About Us
Our Story
Roots Cambodia was founded in 2018 as a registered Non Governmental Organisations (NGO) to provide free English classes for rural children in Cambodia. Situated in a small village on the outskirts of Siem Reap, Roots Organisation provides a caring and nurturing environment for around 100 students, with strong local community support.
Our Founder.
The dream to found a local village English school was the brainchild of Mr. Sarou Hong, a local English teacher.
Sarou has also worked as a Tour Guide for visitors to the adjacent ancient temple complex of Angkor Wat where English is needed for the millions of tourist who visit the area every year and provide employment opportunities. Sarou has worked tirelessly to establish classrooms and other facilities to assist local children to further their educational needs for a better future.
Our Vision
Our vision is to equip the children with the necessary skills to get better jobs, a place at university or to study abroad, all while improving Local Cambodian Communities.
Our Mission
(To build the school in their villages.)
Our mission is to continue to provide free English classes to our dedicated students from the village of Rolous, Cambodia. Prior to the covid-19 pandemic, this number exceeded 200, with Roots extending its support into a neighbouring village. However, due to the pandemic, this number has sadly decreased. It is the mission of Roots to continue to provide support and access to English, with the aim of re-establishing our support to other areas of rural Cambodia.
“If we can help just 10 children, then they can grow to help a 1000.”_Sarou Hong, founder
