Sarou HONG, The founder and director of the Roots Organization is Sarou, a local Cambodian who used to work as a public teacher. It now works as a tour guide for a sustainable travel company in South East Asia. He aims to help 100 people through his organization, hoping that one day they can help 1000 people themselves. Sarou wishes to provide free and standard education to children living in rural villages to help them better their lives and communities.

Vision

Our vision is to equip the children with the necessary skills to get better jobs, a place at university or to study abroad, all while improving local Cambodian communities.

Mission

To build the schools in their villages. One school, one village through Community Development.

Objectives
To ensure their communities have access to quality education, students attend school in their villages to reduce costs, learn English, protect the environment, and improve their future.

We aim to provide English education and raise awareness about the environment, construction, agriculture, and preserving our heritage.

We aim to improve the lives of the children, their families, and the community. One of our successful construction projects was building a water filtration system for the school. We intend to extend this system to the surrounding villages to provide clean and fresh water to everyone and create employment opportunities for the locals. We are also committed to environmental conservation, as Cambodia struggles with pollution due to contaminated waste, particularly single-use plastics. To address this issue, we organize regular waste collections and educate the community on the importance of waste management. We believe that promoting these skills among the children will benefit themselves, their families, and the wider community. However, we also recognize the importance of preserving the Khmer heritage. Therefore, we will include teaching the ancient Khmer arts to ensure that the children are proud of their roots and their future.
